With a recent change in the owners stiff figure there is hope for an NHL yet. "Late last night both sides, representing NHL owners and players, felt they had ""landed"" on a $45-million annual salary cap for teams that they could agree upon." says Russ Conway in the "The Eagle-Tribune" the local newspaper in Salem, NH.
It is now left up to the board of governors and the 720-player union to formally aprove this decision. If this can't be concluded in an agreement then the NHL will once again be offically closed. Conway also quotes Yogi Berra in his article and is in agreement with how absolutely true Yogi's comment is, "It ain't over 'til it's over".
Personally, I'm excited and hopeful this NHL season can still be saved. On a side note, I came up with something I thought could make for an exciting short NHL season, who knows maybe the right somebody might read this... but atleast for now it's something to think about. I thought it'd be cool if (since it'll be such a short season) that all the NHL divisions compete in a round robin type tourney to decide the 16 to make for an exciting and somewhat fair playoff tree. I dunno... in any case I read about this and came up with that and now I'm sharing it with you.
