Hockey Stories A Walk to the Pond
Posted by GSH-Webby on Tuesday, November 15, 2005
Written and Contributed by: Anonymous Come on in. Don’t take your shoes off though, we are leaving soon. Yeah that’s fresh cut cedar, smells good eh? We always use it to get the fire going, remember? Do you want something to drink or you good to go? Mom where’s my toque? Hold on I gotta find a puck, I think there’s one back behind the shed. Alright got it – You ready?

How have you been? This walk never gets easier eh? I just can’t believe you’ve been gone this long. I could have used you the last few times I’ve been playing. Wasn’t sure on a few things out there. You know how you always said that I should have two options every time I come out of the zone? I’ve been practicing that lately, and your right it works like a beauty. Those words seem to ring truer every year, you know that? It was weird, because just the other day I had got accepted into college, that one we always talked about getting into. The one you wanted me to go to. Yeah they took me, can you believe it? I know you’re proud, I can tell by that grin. Remember that tournament in Brantford we went to, and the whole drive their we talked about girls and I was getting so annoyed? Well I found one – and you were right they are a handful. Oh nice looks like we are the first ones here. Fresh pad of ice. What’s better then this? Only in Canada eh?! Come on, let’s get out there. It’ll be just you and me, but hey you’re the best wingman I ever had…. In the distance, snow began to cover a single set of tracks leading up to the pond. A blonde haired young man glided out on the ice, by himself. In the distance, a wolf howled into the cold Canadian wind, as if he was trying to speak....
