Re:
by Turner17 on Wednesday, August 09, 2006 i was hoping to see the young conbo of malkin, crosby, and staal and also pittsburg do better than 2nd last.
by Kerrzy on Wednesday, August 09, 2006 Well, it'll happen eventually...once Malkin picks an agent and chooses a team haha
by Legend26 on Thursday, August 10, 2006 As far as I can see it, the little wimp can stay over there. how many players refuse to play in the best league becuase of the level of competition? he backed out last year becuase sid and ovech. we hands down better then him for the trophy and now he is staying another year, screw the little whiney baby. the NHL is for the best of the best...
by Kerrzy on Thursday, August 10, 2006 did he refuse to play because of the level of competition? that was what everyone was saying, but he also didn't speak a word of english... don't you think that would make things difficult? maybe he's not as outgoing as alexander ovechkin. don't forget as well that it's Russia...one of the sketchiest places in the world. Who knows what's going on behind the scenes. The guy who is widely regarded as the best player in the world outside of the NHL is surely not scared of competition.
by Legend26 on Friday, August 11, 2006 yes that is one of the sketchiest places, but i can really see the language barrier ever preventing talent the time to shine... I understand he has talent and skill, but when people were saying how skilled he was during the Jr's, i didn't see anything outstanding... there have been way to many skill hockey players from russia that was most likely in his shoes for language, it is just the question is he ready to play... 18yr old phenom showed he can play to that level... why not at the age of 21??? it seems to be he is not will to except a role with the big boys...
by Kerrzy on Friday, August 11, 2006 Come on pal...you didn't see anything in what, a 6 game tournament? How many Russia games did you actually get to sit down and watch? -World Juniors he had 10 points in 6 games, 4th in goals, 3rd in assists... -World Championships he had 9 points in 7 games... Crosby led the scoring at the WC's but played 2 more games than Malkin, and again, that's a short time period to judge him on. He led his team in scoring in the Super League as a 20 year old, that's gotta count for something. You're probably the only person in the world doubting the skill of Malkin, and if you don't think the language barrier would be hard for a kid to deal with your head's in the wrong place. I'm sure North America's a lonely place when you don't speak a word of english...go to Russia and see how you get on, let me know.
Re:
by CanadianCopeDipper on Wednesday, August 09, 2006 russian league is almost as good anyways, will be better in the future, he mayaswell just stay.
by Kerrzy on Wednesday, August 09, 2006 Yeah it's pretty good, at least as far as what they can pay players...they've got good players, but I think the NHL still has the best players from around the world hands down
by suomi-hockey on Thursday, August 10, 2006 the best players in the world play in the NHL everybody knows that the russian league isnt even close
by Kerrzy on Thursday, August 10, 2006 it's gotta be the best euro league out there...if there was or is another lockout and players had to pick based on talent pool and money, theyd probly go there. the whole situation with the russian league and the transfer deal has made this a fucked up situation. maybe the 2 weeks notice wont work because they threatened to break his legs if he tried to walk away |

The Pittsburgh Penguins need help up front.
They’ve been a team on the verge for a few years now, but they’ve never been more than that. It looks like they’ve got a new owner, Sid the kid had a huge rookie season, they’ve re-signed Marc-Andre Fleury, but there’s a piece of the puzzle still missing.
His name is Evgeni Malkin and he’s stuck in Russia. READ MORE...
