News and Updates Gongshow Europe: The Last Frontier
Posted by MAC@GSH on Thursday, February 01, 2007
Boys, Just wanted to let you guys know that on behalf of all the Gonger’s here in Canada, I am proudly leaving tomorrow (Friday) to fly to Munich, Germany to meet with some hockey enthusiasts (from across Europe) who have contacted us in the hopes of bringing the Gongshow brand and lifestyle into hockey towns across the EU. Always protective over a lifestyle that I am simply a spoke on the wheel of, it became apparent what I had to do shortly after they contacted us…. Do you boys think we would just sell GSH gear to anybody? I had a mental picture of some greasy Euros with tight jeans calling each other Gongers in the dressing room after they just had a MOUSSE hair foam fight with each other, so I figured we better go meet these guys first hand…..just to be safe…. So I booked a flight to Germany a few weeks ago, and now I am a day away from leaving… Do Europeans act like hockey boys over here do? That question got me thinking last night……

You see, the great thing about hockey and the reason this superior lifestyle exists, is that hockey players (no matter where they are from) seem to have common qualities, goals, and attitudes.

I am confident that the Euros chirp each other in the room just like we do over here, they get boozed up after games travel around in wolf packs in the bars fearless of anyone, and they certainly love to hang out with the lads on a off day and just shoot the shit…

Or do they?

I guess I will find out pretty quick eh?

So, I pledge to you beauties that I will wear my worn down College Beauty lid with pride and respect in Germany, I will booze every night only because I would feel like I was letting you all down if I didn’t.

And I will make sure that this foreign land of tight jeans, bad hair, and tough accents is a fitting home for the lifestyle we have all come to live and enjoy over here…..

Your fellow Gonger foot soldier,

Macker

as a guy who grew up playin hockey and livin in europe until i was 17, and havin a dad havin played both in the show and in europe, don't underestimate the love of the game and the lifestyle of hockey in europe, some people live and die for hockey over there...and the hockey customs and lifestyles are just as good as ours...

As a Euro who has played in North America the last few years I would say that it is not much different there. Hockey players in Europe are beauties, and they pretty much run the show over there too.

Enjoy the visit to Europe, but as you know I'm in Europe and have already bought into the Gongshow gear! Some of us do indeed know and respect the hockey lifestyle - I just hope the Germans do too.

Make sure and take in a DEL game, it's some real good hockey and the fans support the game in a whole different way than in North America - Standing sections, flairs, soccer style chants, but a ton of passion.

As for the drink, you'll not be short of people to join you on the booze wagon in Germany, they love their beer.

I would say be iffy Macker because you may be right. Some of them wouldn't understand the lifestyle like us Canadian lads do.
