Daniel Alfredsson's all-star coming out party came a little bit early last night. As Alfie got 7 points against a brutal Lightning team. Alfredsson sprung ahead of the the scoring leader (Lecavalier) right in front of his eyes to take the scoring title lead into the break.
Martin Gerber started in nets for the Senators, and was lucky because I think that even I could have been in nets for the Sens last night and could have pulled away with a "W".
Gerber didn't play outstanding, but made the saves at the beginning of the game to make sure that Senators kept their huge lead.
This all-star break will be a much needed one for the Sens because after losing 5 of their last 7 games always seems to warrant a break for any hockey club.
Paddock says that after the all-star break he will decide which goaltender he is going to go with and stick with him to play. He said that if they win they will keep playing. So look for Martin Gerber to start the next game against the New York Islanders on Tuesday after the all-star game and skills competition.
I hope you all get the opportunity to watch this great platter of skill. Enjoy the skills competition where we should see some great moves in the shoot-out competition from the East (Kovalchuk, Ovechkin, & St.Louis) and in the West (Gaborik, Datsyuk, Getzlaf). |
