Had to write a dramatic Monologue for drama, thought i picked a good topic, includes the cheers to hockey speech and a little bit of my own hockey memories this year after my first season in highschool.
Hockey the world biggest fraternity,
the experiences, times in the locker room and roadtrips will stick in your mind for eternity
A simple game, all you need is a stick and a puck,
but when you become a team the game becomes so much more,
the bond between the players are unlike any others,
the tears shed, injuries provoked all for the love of the game,
the losses and the defeats, but its more than that.
Whether you win or lose the boys are always there,
I can remember before my first game of the year,
nerves running through my body,
scared of the opponent, nervous of the crowd,
Adrenaline pumping through my body a million jolts a second,
hitting the ice with the team,
JUMPING UP and down in the corner trying to calm my nerves.
Or how about,
Beating JL after being the underdogs in their rink full of hostile fans,
the song Home coming ,
everyone singing in the dressing room.
Final game of the year losing in provincials,
tears shed in the dressing room,
Seniors hearts shattered,
Passing the torch down to us rookies,
So much emoticon surrounds the game,
The bond us hockey players share is unlike any other athlete,
Best friends off the ice,
Always have each others back even through the thick and thin,
So heres to to faceoffs, goals, assists, overtime, livin' on the road, cold rinks, early mornings, breakaways, goin' top shelf, countless hours of practice, wet skates, thousands of dollars, talkin with the boys in the locker room, dangling, big hits, broken twigs, new skates, the ladies, broken bones, black eyes, packin' bombs, cold brews, coaches, pick ups, fights, let downs, miracles, and most of all, the game, hockey more than a sport a life style. |
