Edmonton Oilers fans waited a long time for some answers from Dany Heatley - and on Friday, they got them.
That's when Heatley spoke publicly for the first timeabout a summer that's seen him demand a trade from the Ottawa Senators and reject a possible trade to the Oilers - the only offer so far that had Sens GM Bryan Murray asking the two time 50-goal scorer to waive a no-movement clause.
When Heatley was asked about the potential trade to Edmonton, he mentioned over and over again that it's nothing to do with the city of Edmonton - he just felt he needed more than one option before he could make a decision. READ MORE... |

In these tough economic times, most people need all the money they can get – and that seems to include Chicago Blackhawks young gun Patrick Kane.
Just a season away from signing a contract that’ll make him a multi-millionaire, the penny pinching Kane is in some trouble after a cab ride turned violent in Buffalo early Sunday morning.
Things got ugly when Kane, who pulled in $875,000 this season, and his cousin James gave their driver $15 for a $13.80 cab fare – and the driver was short 20 cents on their change. READ MORE...

In another peculiar twist in the Phoenix Coyotes ownership scandal, the NHL has sent a letter to its archrival, Jim Balsillie.
It looked as though the Canadian billionaire had struck out on yet another bid to buy a NHL club, but for the first time, the league seems to be acknowledging that they could lose that bankruptcy court case.
The Toronto Star says the NHL letter to Balsillie demands every detail of his business plan, should the Coyotes be allowed to move to Hamilton.
That sounds like an acknowledgement, doesn’t it? Read More... |

If you're looking for backbone, you won't find any at NHL headquarters.
A day after it was revealed the league flip-flopped on Boston's opponent in this year's Winter Classic because NBC was upset about a Bruins/Capitals matchup - they've backed down again!
To please the broadcast giant that pays nothing to show its games (while everyone else pays an arm and a leg), the NHL has dropped the second game in a proposed Winter Classic doubleheader, which was to be played at Calgary's McMahon stadium. |

If what I'm about to tell you is true, it's just another example of the National Hockey League bending over backwards to please a company that doesn't even pay them for the rights to broadcast their games.
It's long been rumoured that the Boston Bruins will host the Washington Capitals at Fenway Park in the opening game of what is now apparently a Winter Classic doubleheader - but there are now reports to the contrary!
Apparently, the NBC (who basically gets to broadcast games for free, remember) is upset with that matchup and wants the Philadelphia Flyers instead...and the NHL said okay! WHAT?!Read More... |
