 | With the 2005/2006 NHL hockey season still in a state of gloom uncertainty, one can only imagine what will fill the void for all those die hard hockey fans. Perhaps going to the local junior, college or minor hockey rink to catch a game might be the answer; however my bet is on something else. |

Something happened over the past few years when ESPN decided to run the World Series of Poker on TV across North America. Something happened to a nation that has always been fascinated with making a quick buck. Poker fever spread though homes of the rich and poor alike. It was no surprise that it made it into the hockey culture, passing the time on long bus rides across the prairies, and boring nights in the hotel before a big game. GSH dives into this culture, where pocket Aces can send a rush through your body like an overtime winner in the playoffs…. |

So many decisions have to be made by a fresh faced 16 year old as to what direction he wants his future to lead towards. So which path leads to Rome, you may ask?  | The long bus trips and swapping war stories, while playing cards, and sipping the odd beer. Those were some of the best times I endured as a hockey player. The game I loved playing as a child has changed some, but not as much as I have changed in the last couple years. |
