Frédérik Cabana of the Halifax Mooseheads Hurts Sydney Crosby

LONGUEUIL, Thursday October 7th (QMJHL) – The Disciplinary Prefect of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Mr Maurice Filion, imposed an eight game suspension, on Thursday, to centerman Frédérik Cabana, of the Halifax Mooseheads...........

The suspension follows an incident that occured during the game between the Mooseheads and the Rimouski Océanic, on Friday October 1st, at the Rimouski Coliseum.

During that game, Frédérik Cabana (1986/05/16) used his knee to hit Sidney Crosby, of the Océanic, causing an injury to his left leg, at 9:54 of the first period.

Mr Filion made his decision public after reading the referee’s game report and watching the game’s videotape.

Mr Filion also had a conversation with Mr Cabana and received a report written by the Moosehead player.

« Mr Crosby received a knee hit, an act we always consider dangerous. Besides, Mr Crosby was not in possession of the puck when he was hit », explained Mr Filion.
