Old School Button-Mashing!

The old Nintendo system I found while at home had to be one of the best things to do besides my rod hockey table. I mean, NHL 2005 online is fun (I’m username gonger4 if you’re playing online) but it’s still nice to go back where it all started… Blaaades ooooof Steeeeeel!

Ah… this game is just as gorgeous, as when it came out January ’88, getting to pick from eight NHL cities (they didn’t to get the NHL license to able to use the team names and logos) you controlled one player and your goalie at all times, pretty tricky! Not exactly the most advanced computer to play against though, if you just skate in circles the computer blindly follows you, and can never seem to understand the concept that he’s never going to catch you as you’re just killing time with a 3-0 lead in the final game of Tournament mode, sucker :P… This game didn’t disappoint in giving the full experience of the game of hockey... that’s right... you get to chuck the ‘nucks when the time comes up. Its simple fighting system of either blocking/punching high or low, can’t really seem to be improved, which is the exact same way you fight in NHL 2005!
Konami (the creators) tried to bring back the BoS name a while back with Blades of Steel ’99 some thing like that, meh, I have no idea whether that game was any good or could live up to the standard, as far as hockey games I’ve been faithful EA sports games since like 95’ haha…

Another NES game a few of my friends that were BoS-deprived was ‘Ice Hockey’. I bought it at a pawnshop this past summer to try ‘er out, it’s not too bad entertainment for a game or two, but nothing too great. No BoS, but still alright for it’s time. I mean, no tournament mode? Ugh.. Team Canada’s jerseys are beige? Ugh.. No fighting? Three strikes, it’s out.. Pretty cool though how you can pick your players from fat slow plays with boomer clappers to little skinny buggers who skate the wind and shoot the puck about as fast as a light breeze..
Anyways.. enough of me jawing about the games.. you should go play them.. now! If not on your old NES system, then on the computer! Here are some sites where you can download ROMS for them, which you can use an emulator with to play the games on your computer.
