Hockey the greatest game on earth. Hockey the coolest game on earth. Hockey the fastest game on earth. So many times we’ve all heard these sayings from people, whether it be commentators, fans or players themselves. However some people outside “the circle” of hockey may not understand why we may make some of the choices in life, and in our hockey career that we do. But hockey is all about DEDICATION! A true player must be dedicated to make the sacrifices he is going to make before the upcoming season with the team. Long nights after a hard practice, your last few dollars spent on hockey gear. Player’s sacrifice time with their families, friends and time alone to relax, just so they will be at the peak of their performance when game time comes.

Everyone who plays hockey wants to make it to the NHL. It’s a fact. If you play hockey and do not thrive to play in the NHL, then you are not a true player. A true player knows his chances at making it in the show. And no matter what your chances are, a true player will sacrifice everything, even his education and job to make it to the highest level of hockey he can, even if its only pick up hockey on the pond...

Dedication comes from the heart. And being dedicated about your hockey career can be the difference between hockey being a hobby, or a lifestyle. Those dedicated to the game live a lifestyle of hockey. Everyone knows whom they are, and that they play hockey. A dedicated hockey player would rather spend time at the rink early in the morning skating and shooting around, than do most things on a cold frosty morning.

So as everyone’s season comes to a start, remember to always have heart, and try your best no matter the situation whether your playing Bantam hockey, or it’s your first collegiate game. Because all the sacrifices we make aren’t going to go to waste. We are dedicated. We are hockey players.
