Thank You Hockey

Thank you hockey. Growing up hockey has been my life and who I am. Now that I am older it seems to be all about exposure and playing for the scouts rather than for the reasons you began playing the game as a kid. Its funny that I just referred to hockey as a game, in my mind hockey is in no way a game or a sport. No, hockey is much more, it is a life style that all of us who have experienced have come to love. Earlier today I stopped and took a good look in the mirror. For just a few minutes I put aside all of the pressure to preform and thought of how blessed I am to have hockey in my life. This life style known only to hockey players has allowed me to travel all over the world where I have gotten to see so many interesting things and meet so many amazing people. Without hockey I would never have these great opportunities. Take time to think back to tournaments as a kid, times when you would travel with your teammates, your brothers. Playing mini hockey in the halls untill security would make you stop, then continuing as soon as they left. These are memories that we will carry with us, and we will always have a special bond with those who have been touched by hockey as we have. So if its thinking about the first time you ever stepped on the ice (and mostlikely fell on your face) or the moment you fell in love with hockey, I think that at some point we all need to think of how hockey has opened doors for us and made us who we are. For me hockey is the greatest thing to ever happen to me. I hope it continues to get me a good education and help me to meet new people and visit new places. For my life style, my love, long lasting friends, great times and memories, along with great opportunities i must say thank you hockey.
