And That's the Season, Boys.

The 07/08 season came to a end last night, as the Red Wings downed the Penguins in game six of the Stanley Cup Finals. A game in which many people expected the momentum to be on the Penguins side, as the game progressed, it was clear that Detroit meant business, and were Cup thirsty.

I as a fan who had been cheering for the Penguins was impressed with their overall playoff showing, however was disappointed with them in the last series. It's upsetting to see a team with such promise and skill perform as inconsistently as the Penguins did. Malkin epitomizes the team's collapse in series four of the playoffs, as he is a player that is capable of so much more, but seemingly choked under the pressure due to his age and lack of experience in such situations. Through all the bullshit and rambling I'm doing, the Penguins were not an experienced enough team to win the cup, at least this year that is.

One story that should get some spotlight is that of Darren McCarty. Some people have mixed opinions on the man, and for good reason perhaps, as his habits really seemed to trouble and estrange his family from him. Regardless, we all make mistakes boys, and it's good to see him bounce back. As the idiot Bob Cole said last night, it's amazing that he went from playing recreational men's hockey at the beginning of the season, to winning the Cup with one of the premier teams in which the NHL boasts.

Ultimately, I and many other people were somewhat disappointed with this season's playoffs, as they seemed to lack excitement in some cases. With that being said, the better team won, but don't count the Penguins out quite yet. A team with such talent can only move forward from an experience such as being two games away from winning Lord Stanley's hardware, something that many people can only merely dream about.
