What was suppose to be an early season road trip for the Chilliwack Cheifs, where relationships are born and team chemistry is formed, with only 12 minutes and 13 seconds left in a game on Friday, Garret Hunt started a bench brawl with a check to Les Reaney’s head.............

Reaney then retaliated by one-punching Hunt to the ice. Reaney, satisfied with his bomb, turned for the bench, not knowing Hunt was chasing after him to attack.

By this point, the Chiefs on the opposing bench decided they weren’t going to miss out on the action and the bench brawl insued.

The ice in Williams Lake became a yard sale with fists flying. The Williams Lake Tribune reports Zach Gieszler of the Timberwolves took seven punches to the face by Chiefs player Trevor Hunt. The Tribune reports that Gieszler was knocked to the ice by a flying elbow which deemed him unconsicious or dazed, and Hunt proceeded to pumble his defenceless body with left hooks for several minutes before it was broken up.

Nine Chiefs and six Timberwolves were ejected and 470 minutes in penalties were dished out.

TimberWolves receiving suspensions included Zach Gieszler, Bryce Martin, Brad Reaney, Shaun Witschen, Trevor Turner, Matt Crowell, Dustin Honing and Rick Pitta.

Cheifs Head coach Harvey Smyl is facing an indefinite suspension from the BCHL. Coach Harvey Smyl, Matt Gow, Garret Hunt, and Trevor Hunt all must meet with league officials to discuss the brawl.

Les Reaney, the Timberwolves player who was initially struck by the Garet Hunt elbow tied a club record for the most individual goals in one game with a game total of five goals.
