With NHL Entry Draft now complete we all know what time it is. Some off-season diehards would say the buyout and negotiation period and next Tuesday at noon we enter into the Free Agency period. Well that is all fun and dandy, many more of us also know this time of year as summer. Heading out on roadies to Montreal, or whatever cottage country you happen to be near. Fishing, drinking some brews, and for a vast majority cracking a new tin. |

The 07/08 season came to a end last night, as the Red Wings downed the Penguins in game six of the Stanley Cup Finals. A game in which many people expected the momentum to be on the Penguins side, as the game progressed, it was clear that Detroit meant business, and were Cup thirsty. |

Had to write a dramatic Monologue for drama, thought i picked a good topic, includes the cheers to hockey speech and a little bit of my own hockey memories this year after my first season in highschool. |

Since the last couple of weeks, there has been a excessive amount of openings for coaches in the NHL. Just recently the Toronto Maple Leafs fired Paul Maurice, and before then the Florida Panthers, Atlanta Thrashers, and Ottawa Senators were vacant in the ‘HC’position. Since the Maurice firing, the Colorado Avalanche fired Joel Quenneville, and it is rumored that San Jose might fire Ron Wilson aswell as the Tampa Bay Lightning and John Tortorella. |

This story is never too late to read!
I don't seem to understand why I am actually excited that the Senators tonight to finish off their season getting swept by the Penguins. Maybe it is because they put all sens fans out of their misery, or because Wade Redden played his last game as a Senator. I really don't know, but it's very odd.
Daniel Alfredsson remains the heart and soul of the team and other than him I truly don't know who will be back for the Senators next year. It is clear that the core should be back, but with the owner such as Eugene Melnyk I wouldn't be shocked to see anyone gone next year.
Melnyk spoke with CBC during the intermission and guaranteed that Bryan Murray will be back next year. That doesn't say that he will stay the head coach. I would ponder to guess that we will see yet another new face behind the bench.
After a very emotionally trying year for most sens fans, starting the year off with a spark and going 15-2, the Senators never looked back, and couldn't seem to get anything going. |
