Who is the best player in the NHL? Today we marvel at the pure skill of a player such as Alexander Ovechkin and stare in awe at the playmaking abilities of one Sidney Crosby. Although these two players are great athletes and phenomenal hockey players, we are too soon to forget the legends that played the game. Wayne Gretzky has a record of 215 points in one season, last year Evgani Malkin led the league with 113 points. The greatest players in today’s game have a hard time getting to Gretzky’s half way marker. Comparing today’s players with the likes of The Great One is a joke, so who is the NHL’s top guy today? |

"Up and at em!" your jolted awake and slightly confused. Then everything hits you at once. Its five o'clock on a Sunday morning and you have practice at 6:00. You slink into the kitchen where Dad is cooking up breakfast. "Gear ready buddy?" wiping the goo out of your eyes you grunt something that passes for yes. On the ride to the rink you're in and out of sleep and wish that you never got out of your warm bed. Carrying your gear into the rink a shiver shoots through your whole body, its freezing. You wait by the gate itching to get on the ice. Cold wind flows by your face as you jet around the ice with the rest of your team, no regrets, this is the best feeling in the world, you're fully awake and anxious to play the game you love.
Too some people hockey is just a game, but we who play the game know better. It is a lifestyle that stays with you forever. Whether you're a coach, player, or just sitting in the stands you will stay with the game until the day you die. |

* From a girl's perspective...
It’s no secret that hockey players are some of the best looking athletes on the planet. They’ve got the body, the grit, the attitude...oh and did I mention the body? The question is how do you narrow it down and pick the cream de la crème of the NHL? |

The bankruptcy court battle over the Phoenix Coyotes took a couple of very interesting turns on Tuesday...none of which made the ownership struggle much clearer.
It was deadline day for submitting formal bids to buy the team ahead of the September 10th auction - and the NHL started things off by joining the bidding war. To make things even more interesting, Jerry Reinsdorf's group, the league-backed choice to take over the Coyotes, backed out as a potential buyer hours later.
Reinsdorf's group simply said they couldn't meet the deadline to submit an offer, and complained about "an organized publicity effort designed to provide negative and misleading information to interested parties." READ MORE... |
